Last week the Agriscience class along with other students went to Sabetha for Dairy Cattle Judging. Everyone placed well overall A team placed 11th, B team placed 8th!

Jefferson West High School will be hosting the first round of Regional Volleyball on Monday, October 21st! Let’s pack the gym and show support to our Lady Tigers as they compete for a chance to go to Sub-State on Saturday, October 26th!
Lady Tigers are state bound!! The Lady Tigers finished as Regional Runner-Ups for the third year in a row and qualified for the State tournament!!! Tigers were led by Katelin Lohman and Izzy Higgins who finished 4th and 6th. It was a great overall team effort. Please congratulate all members of this years team. Katelin Lohmann, Izzy Higgins, Taryn Taylor, Emma Herring, Ryleigh Zitek and Sydney Sage. TIGER ROAR!!

Apply Kansas Day was held on Tuesday. This day allows seniors to apply to Kansas Colleges for free. A total of 25 students participated - 38 applications to 4-year colleges (36 public and 2 private); 2 applications to community colleges; 2 applications to technical school.
In addition, we had students apply for their FAFSA ID to begin that process, and some students applied for scholarships.

The Jefferson West High School FFA Chapter is hosting their annual fruit and meat sale. Check out the pictures - if you weren't hungry before, you will be now! FCCLA is holding their annual trash bag fundraiser. They still have pink, yellow, and kitchen size trash bags available. Each roll is $13. Contact an FCCLA member or Mrs. Abbott to order.

Several FCCLA members volunteered helping the Meriden-Ozawkie Chamber of Commerce setting up tables, serving, clearing tables, and cleaning up for the Pancake Feed on October 5th. Then they went to the High School to verify inventorying of Winter Formal decorations. Whew! Thank goodness they had a good breakfast!!
On Wednesday last week 14 seniors from Mrs. Becker's Spanish class visited the Mattie Rhodes Cultural Center in Kansas City.
The Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery was established in 1999 to provide emerging and established Latino artists a venue in which to display their art work, as well as a place for the community to celebrate and learn about Latino culture through visual arts. Mattie Rhodes continues to invite all artists to exhibit works that explore themes important to the Latino culture. They strive to educate the public about the importance of the arts and bring together many cultures within our communities.

USD 340 Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held this week on Wednesday, 3:30-7:30pm, and Thursday, 12Noon-7:30pm.
On Wednesday, USD 340, Highland Tech, and Washburn Tech students will all have classes as scheduled. Conferences will begin at the end of the regular school day.
On Thursday, USD 340 students will not have classes. However, Highland Tech and Washburn Tech students will have classes as scheduled and busses will run as scheduled. USD 340 Parent/Teacher conferences will be 12Noon-7:30pm.

Wednesday is picture retake day at the High School. This day is for students who need to be re-photographed and students who missed the original Picture Day.
If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your child on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook.
Students who were absent for Picture Day should come to school prepared to have their picture taken. If you have not preordered, please use the Retake Order Code 87029MF to place your order.
