Jefferson West over Holton 27-17 🏈🏈🏈🏈
Jefferson West (3A, 4-1) has been one of the breakout teams of 2025 under first-year head coach Jeff Schwinn. The Tigers are off to a 4-1 start, including their first win over Holton in six years and just their third over them since 1996.
They opened the season with a gritty 14-13 win at Riley County, followed by a solid 35-20 road win at Royal Valley. Their only loss came in a tight 30-27 battle against St. Marys, before bouncing back with a 12-7 win over Hiawatha and a statement 27-17 victory at Holton.
Now 2-0 in district play and 4-1 overall in the loaded Big East League, Jefferson West looks like a team to keep an eye on in 3A under Schwinn’s leadership, a program clearly trending up and playing confident, physical football.

The Kansas Apply Free Days will be held on October 6-8, 2025! During these three days, any Kansas resident, regardless of age or income can apply for free at any of our 7 public universities, 19 community colleges, 6 Technical colleges, and the 21 private member institutions of the Kansas Independent College Association. Eligible programs include general applications, certificate programs, associate degree programs, and bachelor degree programs. (Graduate programs or other mid-degree applications will not qualify.)
