Jeff West VB concluded their season this afternoon playing Hiawatha in the first round of Sub-State. Hiawatha defeated Jeff West 25-6, 25-10

The Jeff West XC Team competed at the Sabetha Regional XC Meet this morning. The girls placed 11th and the boys placed 12th as a team. Top finishers were: Nova Chatham - 33rd Aubrey Phillips - 39th Lucas Twombly - 23rd John Bevitt - 33rd

Jefferson West High School Culinary Essentials class that is preparing a Hydroponic Garden tower with seeds and water. Most of the seeds are lettuce, kale, basil, and green beans. Water from the tower operates on a regular schedule and LED lights provide indoor lighting when the classroom lights are off. A sponge like pod with an indention allows the seeds to sit nestled in the pod and in a basket where the water trickles down to water the seeds. These will be used in the cooking labs during this end of the semester at Jefferson West High School and many will provide at least three cuttings off of them. The tower garden was provided by the District 340 food coordinator Nicole Gillihan. The Culinary Essentials class is taught by Leslie Abbott.

Congrats to the Girls’ Golf team, Ella Dickey, Sydney Thompson, Nataleigh Holguin, Kinley Stones, Taylor Rowe, and Adysen VanZandt. They placed 4th out of 14 teams at Regionals yesterday, qualifying them to attend State Golf. Great job lady tigers and good luck on Monday!

Congratulations to the Jefferson West Debate teams for a great showing this weekend. The gentlemen ran open rounds and Walker Loftin and Cameron Casura had a 3-2 record (which is a qualifier towards State!). Parker Stewart and Bryce Midgley had a great record for the weekend also! We travel to Eudora this next weekend. Keep up the great work JW Debate!

Congrats to the FFA members who competed in Dairy Cattle Evaluation last Wednesday. B- team place 4th overall out of 41 teams. Individually, Cameron Casura placed 12th out of over 200 participants.
