Meriden, Kansas - The USD 340 Board of Education took action at its January 9th regularly scheduled meeting to begin a multi-year process to study classified employee compensation. With many changes on the horizon for public schools, recruiting and retaining the best employees for our students is critical to the mission and long-term success of the district. This process will help the community and board of education look at all aspects of employee retention and compensation, ensuring our schools can continue to recruit and maintain the best employees in an ever-changing marketplace.
The first changes to the classified salary schedule, along with merit-based performance incentives, were adopted by board action. A comprehensive analysis will be presented by an outside organization, with a final report due later this year as the district works on finalizing its strategic plan and providing a long-term competitive compensation plan.
